Nowadays, almost every employee is equipped with a smartphone, which "pushed" the company emails directly to his smartphone, which leads to the fact that you automatically look at the smartphone... But does this have to be in the end of work or on vacation?

Certainly not for reasons of relaxation - Daimler had already set up the pilot project "Mail on Holiday" in 2014 for this purpose: "Our employees should relax on vacation and not read business e-mails."

The carmaker Volkswagen is taking a similar approach. There, there is an e-mail break after work. At Deutsche Telekom, on the other hand, senior executives have pledged not to send employees any e-mails after work, on weekends or during vacation.

According to a recent CIO survey of IT executives on whether they read and work on their email during the vacations, only one in four interviewees reported consistently switching off while on vacation.

Working while on vacation seems to be widespread among employees - regardless of whether or not they take on management responsibilities on the job. A Regus survey found that just under a third of German professionals work one to three hours a day while on vacation. Seven percent are even said to sacrifice more than three hours a day, and 14 percent are on vacation almost as much as usual. Every works council demands that employees be relieved...

With regard to the new law on continuous and uninterrupted recording of working hours, which has been in force since May 2019, company emails outside working hours can also become problematic, as this time must strictly speaking be logged as working time.

As a software manufacturer for Outlook, we are receiving more and more requests from companies looking for a practical solution to relieve employees from reading and processing incoming messages outside working hours, both in the evening and on vacation.

On this basis and with the requirements of various companies in mind, we have developed DelayMails Agent. The server-side service relieves employees of messages that arrive outside working hours by "buffering" these messages and not delivering or forwarding them until the next real working day.

No more emails after hours

It's really easy as pie - you just need to set at what times you don't want to receive messages.

Outgoing/sent messages can be delayed by any period of time or sent at any time.

Flexible rule creation

For incoming messages, working hours, holidays as well as non-working days can be freely defined. Likewise, the activated out of office assistant of the message recipient (OOF) can be taken into account.

For each rule, you can individually set to whom it should be applied - for example, to individual email addresses, domains or organizations.

But the department manager still wants to receive his emails all the time - No problem, you can disable the delay for individual senders and recipients as well as based on certain keywords in the message.

Everything at a glance

The DelayMails Agent also offers detailed logging of all processed and delayed messages - so no mails go missing and you always have an overview of which e-mail arrived with whom and when.
